Thready Gordes framed embroidery

$499.00 CAD

This work is a stitched drawing that references sketches I did while in the Provence village of Gordes, France. I love looking at the medieval buildings with their aged quirky lines and amazing history. Gordes is a popular and lovely hilltop village that I read about in many of Peter Mayle’s novels and always wanted to visit. This view was captured as I was leaving.

I decided to leave all the loose threads ends I usually tidy away to the back, out as they landed on the front. They create an unexpected texture and layer to the stitched lines of the image.

The white linen is embroidered freely with blue cotton thread using a basic domestic sewing machine as my drawing tool.

The 10” circular embroidery has been stitched and mounted onto an acid free mat within a 14”x 16”contemporarywhite wood  frame, and is ready to hang.
